The statement comes as Washington has announced sanctions targeting nearly 60 individuals, entities and vessels linked to Iran, alongside broader pressure on countries and companies trading with Tehran.

 🇷🇺 Russia–Ukraine: key military developments

 Russia has intensified missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. Overnight, Russia launched a major wave involving 217 attack drones and missiles, according to Ukrainian reporting. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted or suppressed a substantial portion of the incoming weapons. 

 Kyiv remains under heavy pressure. Russian ballistic-missile strikes hit the capital's infrastructure on Saturday, while Russia's broader campaign continues to target Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. Ukraine is facing particular pressure from shortages of Patriot air-defence interceptors. 

 The deadly Kryvyi Rih strike is one of the most serious recent attacks. A Russian drone attack on a shopping center killed at least 16 people and wounded more than 130, including children. Ukrainian authorities described the attack as involving a second strike after the initial attack. 

 Ukraine is striking deeper inside Russia. Ukrainian drones hit facilities in Russia overnight, including an Ozon warehouse in the Samara region. Ukraine also claimed a strike on the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery. Reuters reports at least six civilian deaths in the Russian strikes' aftermath, while Russia said it had intercepted 457 Ukrainian drones. 

 The battlefield remains largely positional. The Institute for the Study of War's latest assessment says Russian forces launched 135 long-range strike drones while Ukrainian forces struck Russian military airfields and oil infrastructure. 

 Russia is adapting its military structure around drones. The Russian Navy has begun forming dedicated unmanned-systems regiments, partly in response to increasingly effective Ukrainian attacks on Russian naval assets and ports. 

 ⚠️The bigger picture

 The most important development right now is escalation in long-range warfare rather than a dramatic breakthrough on the ground. Russia is using increasingly large combined missile/drone barrages against Ukrainian cities, while Ukraine is expanding its ability to hit Russian military, energy and logistical infrastructure deep inside Russia.
